Join the Society

The Ornithological Society of New Zealand (OSNZ) promotes the study of birds by organising, providing some equipment and helping to fund bird study in New Zealand.

We publish quarterly a world-renowned scientific journal ('Notornis'), a magazine ('Southern Bird') and occasional books that make available the results of bird studies in New Zealand, the southwest Pacific and Antarctica.

OSNZ is a voluntary and charitable society that depends on the enthusiasm, active participation, knowledge and financial support of its members. We have field trips that you can participate in to learn more about birds, where to find them and how to study them.

OSNZ is not a conservation organisation, but the studies its members carry out provide vital information on which sound conservation decisions can be made.

If your family member has a separate email address, they can renew their subscription using their own login. You just need to provide our Membership Secretary with your family member's email address so that their account can be added to the system. You will be notified when the account has been created, enabling the family member to login.

If your family member does not have a separate email address, you can renew both your own and your family member's subscription with one combined payment, which will be subsequently split and credited to the family member as required by the Membership Secretary.

Fees include postage for the quarterly publications.
